Musculoskeletal clinic — North Margin

Physiotherapy that gives you back your movement

We treat stubborn joint and muscle pain, post-operative recovery and return-to-sport work. Every patient gets a long first assessment, hands-on treatment and a written plan they can actually follow between visits.

Assessment

55 minutes to test, explain the findings and agree what happens next.

Treatment

Manual therapy, dry needling and graded loading in the same session.

Between visits

A short written plan with sets, reps and the signals to watch for.

01 — Scope

What we treat

Come in for this if

These are the presentations we see most weeks. If your problem is not on this list, say so in the enquiry form and we will tell you honestly whether physiotherapy is the right first step.

Back and neck pain

Pain that has outlasted two or three weeks of rest, flares with sitting or lifting, or keeps returning in the same place.

Assessment first

Shoulder and elbow

Reaching overhead hurts, you have lost end-range movement, or a gripping task has become painful and weak.

Loading plan

Knee, hip and ankle

Stairs, hills and the first ten minutes of a run are the problem. Usually a strength and capacity issue rather than damage.

Progressive rehab

Post-operative rehab

You have a surgical protocol and need someone to run it properly — reconstructions, repairs and joint replacements.

Protocol-led

Running and sport

Recurrent calf, hamstring or shin trouble, or a return-to-play decision you would rather not make on your own.

Return to sport

Desk and repetitive strain

Neck, forearm or wrist symptoms tied to a workload rather than an injury, including flare-ups after a change of setup.

02 — Method

How we work

Hands on, then a plan you can keep

Manual therapy is useful for getting a painful joint moving again, but it is the loading plan that holds the result. We use both, in that order, and we tell you which part is doing the work.

  • The first appointment is a full physical assessment, not a quick look followed by a massage.
  • You leave with the findings in plain language and a clear idea of the likely timeline.
  • Exercises are limited to three or four that matter, written down with sets, reps and load.
  • We reassess at every visit and change the plan when the numbers say to, not on a schedule.
  • If something looks outside our scope, we say so and point you to the right clinician.

03 — Sessions

Appointments and fees

What each visit costs

Fees are per session and payable on the day. Most people need fewer visits than they expect — we will give you an estimate at the end of the assessment rather than selling a block up front.

Health-fund claiming is available on the spot. Cancellations inside 12 hours are charged at half the session fee.

  • Initial assessment55 minutes, includes first treatment $140per visit
  • Standard follow-up30 minutes, treatment and plan review $95per visit

04 — First visit

Your first visit

What the 55 minutes look like

Nothing about the first appointment is a surprise. Here is the order it runs in, so you know what to bring and what you will walk out with.

  1. History

What happened, what makes it worse, what you need to get back to. Bring any scans or surgical notes you have.

  2. Physical testing

Movement, strength and load tolerance measured so there is a baseline to compare against later.

  3. Treatment

Hands-on work where it helps, then the first version of the loading plan tried in the room.

  4. The plan

A short written program, an honest timeline, and the point at which we would reconsider the diagnosis.

05 — Questions

Before you book

Questions we get every week

If yours is not here, add it to the enquiry form and we will answer before confirming anything.

Do I need a referral?
No. You can book a physiotherapy appointment directly. A referral only matters if you are claiming under a specific funding scheme, in which case bring the paperwork to the first visit.
What should I wear?
Clothing you can move and be assessed in — shorts for anything below the waist, a t-shirt or singlet for shoulder and neck problems. We also have shorts and gowns at the clinic if you come straight from work.
Will treatment hurt?
Some testing reproduces your symptoms, because that is how we identify the problem. Treatment itself should stay within a level you can breathe through, and we will ask before going firmer. Nothing is done without your say-so.
How many sessions will I need?
Most straightforward problems settle in three to six visits spaced over several weeks. Post-operative and long-standing cases run longer. You get an estimate at the end of the assessment and a revised one whenever the picture changes.
How soon after surgery can I start?
Usually as soon as your surgeon clears you, which is often within the first two weeks. Send us the protocol when you book and we will schedule the early visits to match its milestones.
Do I have to do exercises at home?
Yes, and we keep it realistic. Three or four exercises, written down, usually fifteen minutes. If that does not fit your week, tell us and we will build a smaller plan you will actually complete rather than a perfect one you will not.
What happens in a running assessment?
An hour covering training history, strength and capacity testing, then filmed treadmill running reviewed with you on screen. You leave with the footage, the key findings and a training adjustment for the next four weeks.
Can I change or cancel an appointment?
Of course. Reply to your confirmation email and we will move it. Cancellations made less than 12 hours ahead are charged at half the session fee, since the slot cannot be offered to anyone else.

06 — Booking

Request an appointment

Tell us what is going on

Send the form and we will reply with two or three times that suit the appointment you need. If we think another clinician is a better fit, we will say so instead of booking you in.

Please keep clinical detail brief — we will take the full history at your appointment.

Check session fees

We reply to enquiries on clinic days. This form is for appointment requests only — if your symptoms are severe or worsening quickly, contact a medical service.
